Daily Outfit: Bye Bye January!

Time flies soooo fast! Today's the last day of January.... it's going to be February tomorrow! I'm excited for February because I have a lot of activities to do/places to go. I'll be going home to Baguio on the second week of February for my mother's birthday. A week after that, some friends & I will be going to Laguna, then a week after is my Legazpi trip!... wow! So many things to do, so little time! :) I even haven't booked an accommodation & tour for Legazpi yet. If you have suggestions, please tell me :D

Here's my Monday work outfit. The colors are a toned down compared to my previous outfit... something subdued for a change :) It's almost monochromatic except for the light pink shade on the dress. My friend noticed that I don't wear much of the accessories that I make. I told her that if I wear those that I make, I may never have the heart to sell it :P  I would want to have those items all to myself :D I guess today's an exception since I got to wear one of the pieces that I'm selling...

cardigan: Landmark, dress: Philosophy@SM, heels: Parisian@SM, bag: gift from sister, necklace: Quirky Classic

Upclose pic of the dress

One of my favorite necklaces from all of the items I made :)

Anyway, hope your January turned out great. If not, there are still 11 months to fulfill things that needed to be achieved :D By the way, my Multiply site is not turning the way I hoped so I temporarily created a Facebook account for my accessories. Please check out facebook.com/quirkyclassic. Add me as friend too :D I'll also be posting some thrifted items soon (once I have the time to get the items from the laundry shop :P)

Daily Outfit: Runaway with Me

The title of my Friday outfit post came from the bag... I already featured it here. The print reminds me of some romantic comedy movies where the girl finally realizes that she loves the guy and then chases after him. The guy is then lovingly waiting for her in his arms and after that, they run away together...  hahaha I'm really watching far too many rom-com movies :P

top: Bench, necklace: DIY from old necklace, bag: Krizia, lace flats: Milk & Co

I finally wore the DIY necklace featured in my previous post

I shall call this my "Romantic Comedy Bag" :)
Here are two movies I think of when looking at my printed bag:

not exactly a bridge but the mood feels the same nonetheless :) *photo courtesy of ew.com*

Roman Holiday...I really love this movie!  *photo courtesy of telegraph.co.uk*
I had a very laid back & peaceful weekend... and I should congratulate myself for not buying anything :D But now, I have to sleep early because it's Monday again later... another five days of work... work that I'm thankful for (even if sometimes I complain about it :P).

Goodnight & Sweet Dreams pips! :)

Quirky Classic Accessory Remix (Project #1)

I totally forgot I had these pictures... they were taken last Saturday. I had nowhere to go and I was really bored. I suddenly decided to fix the accessory pile I have. A mess is an understatement when describing my accessory storage area :D  Anyway, while fixing the items, I realized that most of the accessories I no longer/rarely use because: (1) it's outdated, (2) it's unflattering, or (3) I just lost interest in them. I decided to give some of them a makeover... so now, whenever I'm bored, I know I have a project to do (and an item to blog about hehe).

So here's project #1 --- a long single strand necklace. This belongs to the #2 and #3 category. It doesn't suit me anymore because it's long enough to stop at my most unflattering body part --- my stomach area. Also, I'm not into the single strand necklaces anymore... to me it's 'the bolder, the better'. I bought the necklace from my former teammate's sister who is also creating accessories (too bad, I forgot the name of her multiply site). I decided to make it a layered, shorter (bib necklace length) one instead.

*** sorry for the low quality pics... lowbat camera ko eh, kaya sa cellphone ko na lang kinuha :D

the before necklace - a long single strand necklace
It took me 1 1/2 hours to change it... I haven't created accessories in over 6 months :( had to get use to it again...

the finished product hehehe
I'm very happy with the result :D My Saturday was very productive indeed!

Daily Outfit: Bluer Than Blue

This is a late post since this was my Wednesday work outfit. Anyway, just another quick post. I know, the title is an obvious giveaway :P I absolutely love this shade of blue, somewhat of a cobalt color. The dress is great not only because of the color but also of the details in the middle…. it hides my (really big) stomach problem :P I bought this style of dress in 3 different colors: blue, burgundy & black (which I already wore here).

dress: Landmark, leopard print heels: bazaar-bought

To finish the outfit, I paired it with my leopard print heels (which I already overuse). I use blue & brown combination quite a lot… but for me, it just works :)

In other news, I updated my last post since I successfully booked a P1 fare flights promo (Cebu Pacific) to Bohol (August) and Cebu (October) last Saturday early morning! I never had much luck booking for a piso fare promo before so I really didn't expect that my "experimental" booking to Bohol will actually go through :D So when it did, I excitedly booked for another one, this time for Cebu... and again, I had a successful booking! Luck is definitely on my side this time :P

Anyway, time to sleep... it will be Monday again later. Time sure does fly so fast!

2012 Travel Hopes & Dreams (Updated)

I think I already mentioned this on a previous post that I had booked flights to Legazpi City (February) & Camiguin (June). Although these two destinations are on my list of places to go (since I've never been there before), there are some others that I wanted to visit/revisit too. The only obstacles right now are of course, time & money :P

Anyway, all of these are known for their classic beauty... in terms of places that is. They are full of history and there are a lot of beautiful sights to go to:

I've been to Korea last year but only in Seoul & Busan. What my sisters & I really want to visit in Korea next time is Jeju Island. Known for it's volcanic soil & formations, it's also famous for a lot of Korean Drama locations hahaha... Boys Over Flowers being one of them :P

I've been to Bohol twice and their beaches are great especially the ones in Panglao Island (picture above). They also have Baclayon Church which I believe is one of the oldest churches in the Philippines. Of course, Bohol is famous for their Chocolate Hills. What I really want to do there (that I haven't done in my previous visits) is to enjoy Loboc River in a floating restaurant :D I also heard that there are new attractions so I'm curious to find out what they are.

Batanes - it's one of the last pristine places in the Philippines. It's totally isolated from the rest of the country making it a good place to go for sight seeing and nature tripping. It's a bit expensive to go there though (since there are no seat sales going to Batanes :P) and there are only a few accommodations to choose from.
I've been to Cebu many times. I was actually born in Talisay, Cebu but when I was 3 years old, we moved to Baguio City (it's a long story why :P). However, my eldest sister (who's now based in Australia) went back to Cebu after graduating college in Baguio to work there. I remember distinctly during my high school years that my other sisters & I go to Cebu during summer breaks to visit her (and we sometimes stay at our aunt in Pardo).

The best part of Cebu, I think, are the beaches. Two of the most memorable places I visited were Bantayan Island & Malapascua Island (shown above). I also remembered the Chinese Temple, Magellan's Cross, TOPS, Shangrila Mactan and Plantation Island (we only went for picture taking to these two hotels since it's too expensive there!) .

The last time I visited Cebu was after my college graduation and I haven't been back again since because my sister immigrated to Australia not long after that. So, I think it's high time for me to visit Cebu again :)

(phew, what a long story hahaha).

So there it is, my 2012 Travel Hopes & Dreams ... though, I'm really hoping they won't just remain a dream :D

Have a good day!

XOXO

***all photos courtesy of Lakbay Philippines

***UPDATE (January 22): I was successful at booking a P1 fare from Cebu Pacific just a few hours after posting this !!! yahoo :D I  chose Bohol (August) and Cebu (October).... so two places on this list will now be actually a reality :)

Daily Outfit: Conquer Your Fears

This was my Tuesday work outfit. It was finally time to use the bag I bought at Therapy (see original post here). Anyway, this is just a quick post. The title is about the snakeskin satchel... I'm so afraid of snakes!(super duper afffffrrrraaaaiidddd!) so the bag is the closest I'll ever get to conquering my fears hahaha :P Also, my Multiply site is already in it's first stages so talk about taking the first baby step towards my goal :D

tribal print top: bazaar bought; skirt: thrifted: bag: Therapy, stacked heels: Mario D' Boro

Hope you'll have a good day... as for me, I'm on to rearranging my Multiply site :D

Extended Year-End Sale Treasures

... and so it was, the year-end sale was extended... to both my delight and chagrin :D It gave me more time to shop for items that I may not be able to buy on regular price but slowly, my New Year's promise to save just got broken... to a certain extent. Some of the items were bought using gift certificates I received, so technically, it's still a win-win situation for me :) Even if it's sale, I still don't buy anything above 1000 pesos per item...I don't know why but anything above it is already expensive to me :P I rarely buy clothing or other stuff above that price (and with a lot of options to choose from, you can buy cheap but quality items... you just have to look for them really hard).

Here are the items I bought over the course of the extended sale period:

- Love the sea-themed necklace! Wish I had thought of doing this :P
 chickflickcollection.multiply.com necklace bought at Cinderella
- My adventure wouldn't be complete without buying clothes... which are really, really cheaper during sales :D

I got this top for 70% off! what I steal... and perfect for the upcoming summer season (that's March in our country)

navy sheer top: Unica Hija @ P250. Love the front details :)
I usually don't go to Forever 21 during sales because it can be chaotic at times but good thing I did because I stumbled on a very good find! I bought a dress at 50% off for P525... but it's like I'm getting 3 items for that price :D
the sheer dress, the slip, and the belt!

the actual dress... maybe I can substitute the pink slip with another color... and use the belt in other outfits :D
 - A lot of bags were also on sale and I'm very happy with what I found!

I love the laptop bag I bought from a store in Glorietta (see it here) that I came back the following week to buy another one (this time, it's a tote bag)... and it's only P500, not bad for something that's big enough to carry a lot of items and the print's so cute too!
tote bag: Prizms @ Glorietta
I love satchels so when I found this, I didn't pass the opportunity to buy this. It costs P650; the materials are great!
Therapy brown & snakeskin satchel for P650 :)

- Lastly, I didn't buy this on sale but I was still surprised to find out that the book is less than P1000. I really thought that this is a really expensive book when Jane Aldridge first endorsed it on her blog, Sea of Shoes. I didn't bother to check it out at a bookstore thinking that I wouldn't be able to afford it so when I happen to go to a bookstore and see this (and found out it's price), I immediately bought it! I don't think I'll be able to blog as well as the featured bloggers on the book, but just seeing how they dress really serves as an inspiration (despite the fact that those bloggers are probably 5-10 years younger than I am :P)
Style Yourself book :)

So there it is... the treasures I found during the extended year-end sale :) I hope I can finally have time to relax and not buy a single thing for the next few months (or at least until the next grand sale).

Have a great day!

XOXO

Daily Outfit: Seeing Stripes

This was my outfit last Friday (I know, late post :p) Apologies for the photo quality... forgot to bring my camera so this is all I got  :D Anyway, my friends & I hanged out at a Chinese restaurant after work. We had a lot of things to catch up to and there were ghost stories & laugh trips as well!

The thrifted top is an old one… I had it for 2 years already. I love that there is a gradual differentiation of color and thickness of stripes. The darkest color and thinnest stripes are in the lower portion, concealing my tummy  (definitely a plus for me! hahaha).

necklace: Landmark, top: thrifted, watch & bag: gift, jeans: Jag, flats: Parisian @ SM

I love the latest necklace I bought that I wore it again (I first wore it last Monday; check out my Monday outfit). I guess there’s nothing bad wearing the same accessory or outfit over and over again if you really adore it.

In other news.... I finally went through with my thrifting adventure! Although, most of the items I bought were for the online shop I'm planning to open this month (or next month, depending on my schedule). It was really not planned to be that way but I found a lot of good items that just didn't fit me but can be potentially liked by someone else. I'm really, really, really hoping that I'll have the guts & time to open an online shop to sell my handmade accessories & thrifted outfits. Cross fingers! This time I won't procrastinate...I already wasted a lot of time just wishing but not doing :P

Wish me luck! ... and blessing :)

Daily Outfit: Marilyn is Alive!

This is what I wore last Monday (I know, late post :P) . I feel like wearing print-on-print that day so I chose my black & gray striped top and printed skirt. To balance the busy prints, I included my classic black blazer and bag. I only realized it today but both the top & skirt are thrifted... oh, the wonders of thrifting! My thifting adventure didn't push through last weekend because I was suddenly lured by the extended year-end sales... and besides, when I went to my favorite thrift store, all the items were "New Arrivals" so I'm pretty sure the items are still expensive for a thrift find. I'll be uploading the pics of the items I bought last weekend on another post.

Anyway, here's Monday's outfit:
blazer: Alexane @ SM, necklace: Landmark, top & skirt: thrifted, bag: Sophie Martin
The print on the quirky skirt includes the Hollywood sign, MGM sign & Marilyn Monroe :)

up close pic of the skirt
As a finishing touch, I wore a layered “pearl” necklace that I just bought last weekend.

Daily Outfit: Hodgepodge

Here's yet another quick post--- this time of my Friday casual work outfit. I’m not going for a particular style that's why it’s a hodgepodge of different items. My sheer top is more on the vintage/romantic side and the bag is a bit quirky...

white sheer top: bought from Australia, bag: Elements @ Landmark
The studded wedge is somewhat edgy...

studded wedges: Mario D' Boro @ SM
...and the watch is definitely sporty :D

watch: Puma (birthday gift from friends)
The important thing is that I still look presentable in the office hahaha.

I’m really looking forward to the weekend :D I’m thinking about doing thrift shopping. I kinda miss doing it… I just hope that my bed wouldn’t miss me too much :P If my plan does push through, I hope I'll be able to score great finds and post it here.

Enjoy the weekend!

Daily Outfit: Black & White Redux

Just a quick post of what I wore today. I'm already a bit sleepy :D Here's my work outfit today. I wore a dress that I recently bought online (www.vivavintage.multiply.com). Thank god it fits :D Usually when I buy online, it's either a bit smaller or a bit larger than described. This one's just right :) I also love the polka dot print and the silk fabric.

dress: bought online, bag: gift from sister, belt: Landmark, watch: bought online, bangle: bazaar bought, ring: Forever 21
To match the black & white color of the dress, I used my black & white houndstooth bag given to me by my sister last Christmas. I finished my outfit with a red belt to give the look some color and some black accessories (watch, lace plastic bangle, and studded bug ring). Lastly, I wanted to be comfortable so I wore my trusty flats :)

love the houndstooth print of the bag
So that's it for now. I have to sleep... My eyes are really droopy :P

Daily Outfit: Beetle Mania

Happy Wednesday people! :D Here's my work outfit today. I chose a simple, solid-colored dress & cardigan to highlight the bag. The dress is flattering in a way that it has a knot located at the narrowest point of my waist... that created folds to hide my belly :D The bag, meanwhile, is actually a laptop bag that I used as a tote bag. I really love the print on the bag--- it's a vintage Volkswagen Beetle with two hippies…. I say, very classic vintage! I just adore quirky prints on anything :) My eyes just gravitate towards them.

blue cardigan, dress: Landmark, bag: Glorietta (forgot the name of the shop)

bazaar bought earrings

This is the first time I’ve taken a picture inside the office. A lot of my officemates were on break so I asked one of my friends to take a picture of me hahaha. So in a way, this was a quickie shot :D  By the way, that’s not my workstation you see in the photo. My workstation is a bit messy so I looked for a vacant one.

My work day was pretty uneventful. Well, in a way it was a good thing because that means there's nothing much to stress about :p I just hope that in the coming days I'll still be able to say this because there is a huge backlog on our onshore counterparts so that means we will also have a lot of things to do. However, I also feel blessed that we'll have a lot of things to do... this only means that we can keep our jobs :D

XOXO

Travel 2011: A Retrospective

My friends and I recently booked flights to Legazpi City and Camiguin (of course, we availed of the seat sales tempting us left and right :p). These two are my travel destinations for this year (so far... hahaha). It got me thinking what are the destinations I've been to last year (and the reason I became broke). Some of the destinations I've already posted a blog here but for most, I never got the chance to. So here are places I've been to last year (which I also highly recommend you go to):

1. Coron, Palawan (February) -  one of the best places I've ever been to. Still pristine... so I really hope they'll keep it that way.
view of Kayangan Lake
Malcapuya Island

  2. Hong Kong & Macau (March) - I didn't expect the weather to be cold at that time of the year. We crossed Macau from Hong Kong through a ferry.
completely forgot the name of this place... all I remember is that the buddha is one of the largest in the world

HK Disneyland

Senado Square

Ruins of St. Paul

3. Ilocos Norte & Ilocos Sur (July) - it was really hot when we went there but there was just a lot of scenic places to go to :D
The famous street in Vigan - Calle Crisologo

Cape Bojeador in Burgos, Ilocos Norte
Fort Ilocandia in Ilocos Norte
Kapurpurawan Rock Formations

The very scenic Bangui Windmills
Paoay Church

4. Bacolod, Negros Occidental (August) - it was a short stay so we haven't seen much of the place but I certain love their chicken inasal and the The Ruins is really a romantic place to go to.

The Ruins
5.  Laguna, Tagaytay, & Subic (October) - my sister who's based in Australia finally came to visit Philippines again after 4 years. Since we want to cover as many places as we can during her short stay, we decided to go to these 3 destinations (since it's near Manila and they are not that far from each other).
Hidden Valley Springs, Laguna... it's really hidden since we got lost on our way there :D

Overlooking Taal Lake, Tagaytay

The Lighthouse Hotel, Subic. We actually stayed at the hotel next to The Lighthouse.

6. Seoul & Busan, South Korea (November) - this was the most awaited trip my sisters & I have since we are big fans of Korean dramas & K-pop :D We were hoping to see our favorite singers & actors there but alas, we haven't seen a single one (but they have a lot of billboards there so that's enough for us hahaha). Both of these places are really progressive and they have excellent transportation system, food, and places to go to. We went there during the Autumn season the trees are really a sight to behold :) We really want to go back there!
Gyeongbokgung Palace "Doors" :D

downtown Seoul
Lotte World - largest indoor theme park

View of Busan through the Busan Tower
I hope that all of us will have opportunities to travel. It really is a very good way to forget all the problems you currently have. It also helps us explore other culture :)

This year, I'm hoping for more travels with either friends or family. Maybe I'll see you on my next destination too :D

XOXO
