Daily Outfit: Girl Scout

Hi again! :D This is my Thursday work outfit. The colors of the dress reminded me of the Girl Scout uniform hehe. The shades of green & brown are the exact shades of the uniform. Anyway, I love this dress because it's comfy, simple yet vibrant, and it looks like a top & skirt combination :) Nothing much happened to me that day except that it's a usual busy day at the office :(

dress & bag: thrifted, heels: Parisian @ SM, necklace: Landmark

up close pic of the bag & heels
To not look like I'm going to camp, I finished my outfit with two printed accessories (heels & bag) with shades of brown, green & orange. I love that both of the accessories have the same color set even if I bought them at different places & time :D

Ok, go to go... I need to go somewhere today... until next time! :D

Daily Outfit: Conquer Your Fears

This was my Tuesday work outfit. It was finally time to use the bag I bought at Therapy (see original post here). Anyway, this is just a quick post. The title is about the snakeskin satchel... I'm so afraid of snakes!(super duper afffffrrrraaaaiidddd!) so the bag is the closest I'll ever get to conquering my fears hahaha :P Also, my Multiply site is already in it's first stages so talk about taking the first baby step towards my goal :D

tribal print top: bazaar bought; skirt: thrifted: bag: Therapy, stacked heels: Mario D' Boro

Hope you'll have a good day... as for me, I'm on to rearranging my Multiply site :D

Daily Outfit: Seeing Stripes

This was my outfit last Friday (I know, late post :p) Apologies for the photo quality... forgot to bring my camera so this is all I got  :D Anyway, my friends & I hanged out at a Chinese restaurant after work. We had a lot of things to catch up to and there were ghost stories & laugh trips as well!

The thrifted top is an old one… I had it for 2 years already. I love that there is a gradual differentiation of color and thickness of stripes. The darkest color and thinnest stripes are in the lower portion, concealing my tummy  (definitely a plus for me! hahaha).

necklace: Landmark, top: thrifted, watch & bag: gift, jeans: Jag, flats: Parisian @ SM

I love the latest necklace I bought that I wore it again (I first wore it last Monday; check out my Monday outfit). I guess there’s nothing bad wearing the same accessory or outfit over and over again if you really adore it.

In other news.... I finally went through with my thrifting adventure! Although, most of the items I bought were for the online shop I'm planning to open this month (or next month, depending on my schedule). It was really not planned to be that way but I found a lot of good items that just didn't fit me but can be potentially liked by someone else. I'm really, really, really hoping that I'll have the guts & time to open an online shop to sell my handmade accessories & thrifted outfits. Cross fingers! This time I won't procrastinate...I already wasted a lot of time just wishing but not doing :P

Wish me luck! ... and blessing :)

Daily Outfit: Marilyn is Alive!

This is what I wore last Monday (I know, late post :P) . I feel like wearing print-on-print that day so I chose my black & gray striped top and printed skirt. To balance the busy prints, I included my classic black blazer and bag. I only realized it today but both the top & skirt are thrifted... oh, the wonders of thrifting! My thifting adventure didn't push through last weekend because I was suddenly lured by the extended year-end sales... and besides, when I went to my favorite thrift store, all the items were "New Arrivals" so I'm pretty sure the items are still expensive for a thrift find. I'll be uploading the pics of the items I bought last weekend on another post.

Anyway, here's Monday's outfit:
blazer: Alexane @ SM, necklace: Landmark, top & skirt: thrifted, bag: Sophie Martin
The print on the quirky skirt includes the Hollywood sign, MGM sign & Marilyn Monroe :)

up close pic of the skirt
As a finishing touch, I wore a layered “pearl” necklace that I just bought last weekend.

Daily Outfit: Goodbye 2011!

Hi again! It's been a while since I posted anything. I got caught up with all the festivities and last minute things-to-do that I completely didn't open my blog. The saying "better late than never" always work, right? :) In time for New Year, I also have a new haircut :) Nothing much really... it's an updated bob cut with the back shorter than the front and shorter bangs. Anyway, here's what I wore on the last day of 2011:
top: given by sister, denim shorts: Jag, red flats: Parisian @ SM Dept Store, printed bag: thrifted

The flats I bought during the Christmas Sale. I love that it's sheer that I can see my toes :)

This is currently my favorite 'ukay' bag :D My favorite bags are usually the thrifted ones hehehe

Now these are all things I ate that day (yikes! hahaha):
Fish gratinee with parmesan sauce (@Banapple Ayala Triangle) for brunch

Coffee Toffee Roca Pie... love it!
The simple New Year's feast with my friends... notice the 2 round fruits and the round baked potato halves :D
I spent my New Year in Manila with my friends who weren't able to go home to their provinces. As for me, I already spent my Christmas with my family back in Baguio City. Unfortunately, my leave credits weren't enough for me to extend my vacation up until the New Year... (which brings me to the thought that I didn't post a Christmas blog! again... better late than never :P)

Hope your New Year festivities were fun and safe :) I didn't post any fireworks pictures because I didn't take any :D My friends & I were all afraid to go out thinking that there are "paputok" everywhere. I guess the New Year campaign of the Department of Health where they show graphic pics of missing fingers and bloody hands are effective! (for us, at least)

Here's to 2012 guys! Looking forward to another 365 days of fashion, great food & travels and good company!

XOXO

Daily Outfit: Oceanic

Yesterday, my friends and I went to Manila Ocean Park. I really wanted to wear casual clothes because I know that we’ll be walking around a lot. My accessories are both gifts – the multicolored earrings is from a friend and the satchel is from my sister. Too bad you can’t see it from the pic but the top is actually knitted and its a bit see through. My Keds sneakers has black and white stripes… it’s super comfy! :)  So here's what I wore:

knitted top: thrifted, earrings: gift from friend, bag: gift from sister, shoes: Keds (Black & White Stripes)

the top is actually a bit sheer; upclose look at the multicolored earrings
I'm posting my pics at Ocean Park on a separate blog.... it's photo heavy! :P

Summer Rain

It's really a very erratic week (weather-wise). It's suppose to be summer here in the Philippines but the past 2 days brought non-stop rain. Although I love the drop in the temperature because of the rain, it also brought flood at other areas (I pray for those families affected by the flood). Well, it really is hard to predict the weather this days... climate change much?

It was a bit cloudy today and the weather is gray, so to cheer myself up, I had something garden-y & summer-y. There is so much flower stuff going on that you can literally plant me in a garden :P

Anyway, here's my work outfit today:

floral lace blouse: SM Dept Store, belt: Landmark, floral skirt: thrifted, shoes: Shubizz, earrings: bazaar, ring: Forever 21

Upclose pic of earrings & ring
I just hope the weather will just stay cool as it is right now... I really prefer it than having a very hot sun burning you :P But I really can't dictate the weather, can I? :)

Anyway, whatever the weather is, stay safe everyone!

Sale-ing

It was soooo hot last Sunday that I can't stand the heat inside the house! I decided to go to a mall ASAP :D  I really thought that I was safe to go to SM Makati (which is actually nearer to where I currently live) thinking that SM Megamall is the only SM branch in Manila that is on sale right now.... well, I was so wrong! I completely forgot that May 1 is Labor Day so all SM stores have a Labor Day sale :p (though the Megamall sale is still THE sale to go to).

If there's a sale, that's where you'll probably see me :p As much as I don't want to buy, sale has a way of finding me :D ... like we are meant to be together!

Anyway, the bottomline is, I ended up buying again ... but I'm so happy with what I found last Saturday. The good news is, I only both 2 items (as oppose to the Mega hoard). So here it is:

tawny bag with stitching and gold buckles. Bag: BellaDonna

Multicolored beaded sandals. This was actually bought at Tomato Glorietta (they are also on sale)
I love the bag so much that I immediately used it the following day to work. Here's my Monday work outfit (together with the newly acquired bag):

Chiffon dress: thrifted, Shoes: Shubizz, bag: SM Dept Store

upclose pic of the dainty floral prints
It wasn't really my intention but my look ended up to be retro looking (which I love). It's like a secretary style of sorts... I think :P

Until my next post! XOXO

On Mute

Bright colors is the current trend, but I decided to go against the grain for my outfit today. I was just way too lazy to iron clothes... I slept late because I was watching another Korean Drama (49 Days) so I only have a few hours of sleep :( I searched high and low for items in my closet that didn't need any ironing :P Good thing, when I found the top and skirt, they somehow matched (they're meant to be together :P). The colors are muted green & pink :)

Also, to boost my spirit today, I visited the year-round bazaar located near our office (temptation is always near...) and I was able to bought 2 dresses for only P150($3) each! They don't look cheap at all (to me anyway). I'll post it here as soon as I'm able to take pictures of the items.

So here's my outfit for today. By the way, the Item for the Day is the accessory I wore today. I made it myself a few months back. The color is monochromatic (shades of brown) which I think matches with a lot of different items in my closet.

Top: thrifted, skirt: Korean brand skirt bought at a bazaar, shoes: Shubizz, bangles: weaved; bought at a bazaar, necklace: I made it :)

Here's an up close pic of the necklace... it's casual looking but I love the handmade feel to it.

Thrifted Delight

I was busy the past few months that I wasn't able to thrift shop. Finally, I was able to do so 2 weeks ago (I know late post again :p). Anyway, the items were a 'bit more expensive' than what I usually pay for because they were "New Arrivals" (technically though, it's still inexpensive). I can't help but buy printed items but there is one(the blazer) which has no print but the punchy color is so in right now!

I love the print and the pleats at the bottom of this skirt :)

Print overload! two different kinds of floral print + polka dots :D This is a tunic top/short dress... It's sheer too which is great for a tropical country.

Another tunic top/short dress. For a change, it's a star print... I also adore the gathered pleats in the middle... hides multitude of sins :P This is also sheer...

I rarely have a yellow outfit, so imagine my delight when I found this blazer! Amazing color :) ... and probably good to match with my cobalt blue skirt (hmmm... color blocking perhaps?)

I just love the embroidered details and the dark orange color...

Another print-on-print purchase (floral + bohemian prints). Of all the latest finds, this is the one I have already used so far.

Animal Instinct

I'm trying to catch up with my posts... and because of the SD card issue I experienced recently, the pictures I upload are not exactly taken real time. Here's another archive picture (although this was just taken last Thursday). This is my work outfit. It's not exactly a basic outfit (because of the print) but the cut and style is simple enough for me to wear at work. To boost some color, I added a cobalt blue cardigan (the weather is really unpredictable... there are days when it's quite cool).

Back to the animal print... it kinda reminds me of being an animal, not because I look like one (LOL), but because animals (especially those that live in the wild) have to fight to survive their environment. This is what I currently experience in the office (I hope I don't have an officemate who reads this). There are some people there that try to pull you down and back stab you. Some have attitudes that you don't understand, it drives you crazy! I used to cry a lot because of these situations but I realize that they are a waste of time and energy :D I'm trying to be stronger and just ignore them... (ok, this post is getting serious....)

Anyway, here's the pic of my office attire last Thursday :)

Dress: bought from bazaar, cardigan: thrifted, heels: SM Dept Store

P.S. I just realized that next to florals, animal prints is trailing behind as my print of choice! Just sayin'...

Swirly Bits

I think I already mentioned before that I post pics on Chictopia. I initially didn't connect this blog to my Chictopia profile as I have no intention of showing my face on this blog :D However, I realize that it's hard to post pics in Chictopia while blogging about entirely something else. So, to make things simplier, I decided to just show my face and blog about my outfit (well of course, if I have other things to talk about or if I have my items of the day, I'll include it in the blog too).

So here it is... hope you like my outfit :) Don't mind my (always) haggard face... I'm not exactly a make up person.... so right now I'm already apologizing for my face :P

The title is really about the colorful skirt. It's like an abstract painting! The more amazing thing about it is that I got it in the thrift shop :D (got to love thrift shops!) To offset the vibrant color of the skirt, I paired it with a simple top and accessories.

The accessories also serves as my Items of the Day.. I bought these at a bazaar for a very cheap price! I have them for a long time so I'm happy they didn't give up on me :P

Flower Power

I recently cleaned my closet and rearranged the clothes inside then I've noticed something... I have a LOT of floral printed items! So many that I could probably plant a garden in my room :D I just love floral prints... it's a classic feminine print. Whether it's a trend or not, I will always gravitate towards/lust over/obsessed about floral prints!

Naturally, my items for today are the floral printed outfits that I was able to take pictures of while cleaning the closet... these are just some of it (so imagine how many more I have that I wasn't able to take pics of!):

This is my latest thrift shopping acquisition :) I love it because it has this romantic feel to it. The leaves look like it was hand drawn

I have this for quite some time now. It barely fits me now :D I'm not sure if the dress shrinked or if I was the one who gained weight  (I prefer the former) :P

I bought this at a bazaar for P150 (roughly US$3). Love the vibrant colors :)

Another one of my thrift shopping buys. It may look like a nightgown to you but put a belt and leggings... presto!... instant bohemian/romantic outfit.

Print on print is a big trend now... I hope this one passes the trend. Two floral prints in one tunic :)

One of my favorite skirts :) I got this from a surplus shop... love the combination of florals and stripes.

I bought this dress online last week . It is refreshing that it's not a in-your-face floral print... more abstract really (and very important --- it's cheap!).

U-K-A-Y!

I just remembered why I wanted to create a blog in the first place... to show my love for anything thrifted! :) (or what we call "ukay" or "ukay-ukay"). I'm not sure how this word was first used to describe thrifting. I guess it's because you literally have to 'dig' and sift through all the clothes in a thrift shop, "dig" = hukay (Tagalog) = ukay :D Anyway, thrift shopping is not for everyone. I even didn't 'dig' the thrifting habit in the beginning but gradually, I became a fan. Where else can you find the rejects of other people (and take note, most are really rarely used) and it becomes another person's most treasured items :D Others may have issues with hygiene but you have to have a keen eye (and nose) to actually know what is worth keeping or not. I'm not an expert but I can say that my years of experience in thrift shopping taught me a lot about it.

In the spirit of thrift shopping, here are information that we may want to remember about it (in my opinion):

U - Uniqueness: since the items came from other places, there is a high possibility that you're the only one who has that particular outfit in your area (hopefully :p) So if you want to be truly unique, thrift shopping is the way to go.

K - Knowledge: better be armed with info before doing thrift shopping --- where's the best place to go thrift shopping, when will they have new stocks available (I've noticed from the thrift shops I've been to that they're pretty consistent about when they release new items), what's worth buying or not (missing button is fine but a hole or a stain is not worth it at all)

A- Admiration: you should have at least an admiration for thrift shopping to really appreciate it. You can't enjoy thrift shopping if your mindset is not open enough to the possibility of getting dirty or not finding anything you like. Finding items there is more of a luck, so it's best to be flexible.

Y - Youthfulness: You'll find more and more younger people doing thrift shopping for fun... and they really do find amazing items :D Youthfulness also means some of the clothes you'll find are the trendy items that were already rejected by other people (mostly clothes from Hong Kong, Japan and Korea) because "it was so last season". Nevertheless, it's still a very nice item and you can't care less if it's not on trend anymore :)

Since, I've been talking about thrift shopping, it's only logical that my items for the day are some of my clothes that I bought from thrift shops (and I continue to wear them, by the way). Sorry for the crappy pics, I was a bit in a hurry when I took these pics:

My favorite dress so far... love the color and print (it comes with a belt which I forgot to include in the pic)

HOLLYWOOD! I love the quirky print... it even has Marilyn Monroe in it :)

Another one of my favorite dresses. The print is so summery and vibrant. It is sort of a classic 50s style.

This is made of chiffon and is an excellent swimsuit topper

So the next time you see a thrift shop, dare to explore what's in it. You might just end up having a great time! :)

XOXO

There's always a first time

My first ever blog...  I'm not much of a blogger but it seems that blogging can be fun :) Nothing much to say now but if you are just like me --- fond of thrift shopping, accessories, and traveling --- feel free to leave comments and suggestions.

Just want to post some of the (quirky) accessories I made in the past.
