Quirky Classic Accessory Remix (Project #1)

I totally forgot I had these pictures... they were taken last Saturday. I had nowhere to go and I was really bored. I suddenly decided to fix the accessory pile I have. A mess is an understatement when describing my accessory storage area :D  Anyway, while fixing the items, I realized that most of the accessories I no longer/rarely use because: (1) it's outdated, (2) it's unflattering, or (3) I just lost interest in them. I decided to give some of them a makeover... so now, whenever I'm bored, I know I have a project to do (and an item to blog about hehe).

So here's project #1 --- a long single strand necklace. This belongs to the #2 and #3 category. It doesn't suit me anymore because it's long enough to stop at my most unflattering body part --- my stomach area. Also, I'm not into the single strand necklaces anymore... to me it's 'the bolder, the better'. I bought the necklace from my former teammate's sister who is also creating accessories (too bad, I forgot the name of her multiply site). I decided to make it a layered, shorter (bib necklace length) one instead.

*** sorry for the low quality pics... lowbat camera ko eh, kaya sa cellphone ko na lang kinuha :D

the before necklace - a long single strand necklace
It took me 1 1/2 hours to change it... I haven't created accessories in over 6 months :( had to get use to it again...

the finished product hehehe
I'm very happy with the result :D My Saturday was very productive indeed!

Extended Year-End Sale Treasures

... and so it was, the year-end sale was extended... to both my delight and chagrin :D It gave me more time to shop for items that I may not be able to buy on regular price but slowly, my New Year's promise to save just got broken... to a certain extent. Some of the items were bought using gift certificates I received, so technically, it's still a win-win situation for me :) Even if it's sale, I still don't buy anything above 1000 pesos per item...I don't know why but anything above it is already expensive to me :P I rarely buy clothing or other stuff above that price (and with a lot of options to choose from, you can buy cheap but quality items... you just have to look for them really hard).

Here are the items I bought over the course of the extended sale period:

- Love the sea-themed necklace! Wish I had thought of doing this :P
 chickflickcollection.multiply.com necklace bought at Cinderella
- My adventure wouldn't be complete without buying clothes... which are really, really cheaper during sales :D

I got this top for 70% off! what I steal... and perfect for the upcoming summer season (that's March in our country)

navy sheer top: Unica Hija @ P250. Love the front details :)
I usually don't go to Forever 21 during sales because it can be chaotic at times but good thing I did because I stumbled on a very good find! I bought a dress at 50% off for P525... but it's like I'm getting 3 items for that price :D
the sheer dress, the slip, and the belt!

the actual dress... maybe I can substitute the pink slip with another color... and use the belt in other outfits :D
 - A lot of bags were also on sale and I'm very happy with what I found!

I love the laptop bag I bought from a store in Glorietta (see it here) that I came back the following week to buy another one (this time, it's a tote bag)... and it's only P500, not bad for something that's big enough to carry a lot of items and the print's so cute too!
tote bag: Prizms @ Glorietta
I love satchels so when I found this, I didn't pass the opportunity to buy this. It costs P650; the materials are great!
Therapy brown & snakeskin satchel for P650 :)

- Lastly, I didn't buy this on sale but I was still surprised to find out that the book is less than P1000. I really thought that this is a really expensive book when Jane Aldridge first endorsed it on her blog, Sea of Shoes. I didn't bother to check it out at a bookstore thinking that I wouldn't be able to afford it so when I happen to go to a bookstore and see this (and found out it's price), I immediately bought it! I don't think I'll be able to blog as well as the featured bloggers on the book, but just seeing how they dress really serves as an inspiration (despite the fact that those bloggers are probably 5-10 years younger than I am :P)
Style Yourself book :)

So there it is... the treasures I found during the extended year-end sale :) I hope I can finally have time to relax and not buy a single thing for the next few months (or at least until the next grand sale).

Have a great day!

XOXO

Daily Outfit: Seeing Stripes

This was my outfit last Friday (I know, late post :p) Apologies for the photo quality... forgot to bring my camera so this is all I got  :D Anyway, my friends & I hanged out at a Chinese restaurant after work. We had a lot of things to catch up to and there were ghost stories & laugh trips as well!

The thrifted top is an old one… I had it for 2 years already. I love that there is a gradual differentiation of color and thickness of stripes. The darkest color and thinnest stripes are in the lower portion, concealing my tummy  (definitely a plus for me! hahaha).

necklace: Landmark, top: thrifted, watch & bag: gift, jeans: Jag, flats: Parisian @ SM

I love the latest necklace I bought that I wore it again (I first wore it last Monday; check out my Monday outfit). I guess there’s nothing bad wearing the same accessory or outfit over and over again if you really adore it.

In other news.... I finally went through with my thrifting adventure! Although, most of the items I bought were for the online shop I'm planning to open this month (or next month, depending on my schedule). It was really not planned to be that way but I found a lot of good items that just didn't fit me but can be potentially liked by someone else. I'm really, really, really hoping that I'll have the guts & time to open an online shop to sell my handmade accessories & thrifted outfits. Cross fingers! This time I won't procrastinate...I already wasted a lot of time just wishing but not doing :P

Wish me luck! ... and blessing :)

Daily Outfit: Marilyn is Alive!

This is what I wore last Monday (I know, late post :P) . I feel like wearing print-on-print that day so I chose my black & gray striped top and printed skirt. To balance the busy prints, I included my classic black blazer and bag. I only realized it today but both the top & skirt are thrifted... oh, the wonders of thrifting! My thifting adventure didn't push through last weekend because I was suddenly lured by the extended year-end sales... and besides, when I went to my favorite thrift store, all the items were "New Arrivals" so I'm pretty sure the items are still expensive for a thrift find. I'll be uploading the pics of the items I bought last weekend on another post.

Anyway, here's Monday's outfit:
blazer: Alexane @ SM, necklace: Landmark, top & skirt: thrifted, bag: Sophie Martin
The print on the quirky skirt includes the Hollywood sign, MGM sign & Marilyn Monroe :)

As a finishing touch, I wore a layered “pearl” necklace that I just bought last weekend.

Christmas Shopping Part 1

I have to confess... I spent a lot this Christmas season (and still continuing to spend)... maybe it's the "Sale" sickness kicking in :D This is just a quick post of what I bought during the last 2 weeks (I'll post the others next time; I forgot to take pictures of them):

I bought several necklaces. Even if I create and sell accessories as well, there are times that I just fall in love with other accessories that I just have to buy them :D

bought at Cinderella; chickflickcollection.multiply.com necklace

necklaces: Landmark

close up details --- globe balloon (with bear inside the basket), red lobster, and peacock

I also bought 2 sheer tops with feminine details. Both are in muted colors... which is unusual for me since I'm a fan of very colorful tops :)

Blouse: Calypso @ SM Department Store

different shades of gray with embroidery and beads

Finally, I chanced upon a flats with sheer details (what's up with the sheer thingys :p). I really love this... my new favorite flats :D
Shoes: Parisian @ SM Department Store

up close details --- red color, ribbon and sheer floral details
So this is Part 1 of what I bought this Christmas season :D I'll try to post the other stuff I bought when I can. I'm currently busy packing since I'll be going home to my province (well, home city is more like it), Baguio City, for a well-deserved R&R and of course, to spend time with my family and old friends :)

In case I forgot to post during the holidays, I wish you all a Merry Christmas! Have a fun and safe holiday :)

Daily Outfit: Lady Rock

TGIF! woot!woot! This is exactly what I feel every time the calendar hits on a Friday :D Anyway, hope you had a great day today. Mine is work as always but it's ok --- it's much more bearable than Monday to Thursday hahaha.

Here's my outfit for today... a combination of hard and soft, feminine and masculine...

Lace top: Cinderella, Black Jeans: Freego: Brogue wedge: Mario D' Boro, necklace: Landmark, watch: gift

Tomorrow, we'll be going to Manila Ocean Park. This will be the second time that I'll be going there. There are a lot more attractions now than when we first went there. I'm looking forward to a weekend outing! :) I'll be posting pics from my visit there for sure.

Fish Scales

Thank God it's Friday! :D I love it when all you have to do now is sleep and eat and not worry about work :p It's an added bonus that I'll actually be traveling to Hong Kong & Macau this weekend! I'm busy preparing my outfit that I'll be wearing so I want to keep this short.

The title pertains to the pattern of the top. It reminds me of fish scales :D What's amazing is the color... cobalt blue. I used to baby blues but now... the brighter, the better :P

I wear (more like abuse) my black jeans a lot... I actually have 2 pairs of this jeans because I just a hard time finding a good pair so when I finally found something that fits, I just have to buy 2 :D

I finished my outfit by wearing opposing types of accessories... the black chain necklace and the cheerful printed flats.

Top & Necklace: Landmark, Jeans: SM Dept Store, Flats: bought from bazaar

Cute fruit and flower print... with studs too!

When one day is not enough...

This is exactly what I feel today... I have a lot of things to do in the office but I can't seem to finish everything! I'm so tired that I just gave up and went home :P I'll just come to work earlier tomorrow so that I can continue the tasks :( I don't know but I'm really more excited going home and browsing (and doing this blog) than actually working at the office :D I guess it's really time for me to do something else other than sitting in my own office corner....

Anyway, here's my outfit for the day :D

Dress: bought online, studded shoes & necklace: bought from bazaar, bracelet: SM Department Store

Up close pic of the necklace (which by the way is my Item of the Day) and printed dress

One of the bazaar bought shoes I have that lasted long :D love the studs and the faux animal skin...

On Mute

Bright colors is the current trend, but I decided to go against the grain for my outfit today. I was just way too lazy to iron clothes... I slept late because I was watching another Korean Drama (49 Days) so I only have a few hours of sleep :( I searched high and low for items in my closet that didn't need any ironing :P Good thing, when I found the top and skirt, they somehow matched (they're meant to be together :P). The colors are muted green & pink :)

Also, to boost my spirit today, I visited the year-round bazaar located near our office (temptation is always near...) and I was able to bought 2 dresses for only P150($3) each! They don't look cheap at all (to me anyway). I'll post it here as soon as I'm able to take pictures of the items.

So here's my outfit for today. By the way, the Item for the Day is the accessory I wore today. I made it myself a few months back. The color is monochromatic (shades of brown) which I think matches with a lot of different items in my closet.

Top: thrifted, skirt: Korean brand skirt bought at a bazaar, shoes: Shubizz, bangles: weaved; bought at a bazaar, necklace: I made it :)

Here's an up close pic of the necklace... it's casual looking but I love the handmade feel to it.

Accessories...Excessories

I create accessories as a hobby (check out my first blog) but once in a while, I still buy accessories either as inspiration or I just love it so much, I want to wear it :D As mentioned in my previous blog, I recently cleaned my closet...I never realized I had so much accessories until that day! I think accessories play an important role in your outfit because it helps show the mood you want to portray (case in point: stacked bangles portrays bohemian while a strand of pearls equates to classic sophistication). Personally, I like chunky necklaces and bracelets... but really, as long as it's cute, fun, and unique (hopefully), I'll probably want it :)

My items for the day are some of the accessories that I bought that I truly, truly wish I was the one who created it :) :

Bought at Landmark (it's cheap too!) Love how the fabric was used to cover the beads and I also admire the gold accents.

How cute is the owl? :D Also, the bangle is very versatile because of its color - black, white & gold.

Another Landmark purchase. I have this weakness for accessories with cloth or ribbon accents. In this case, it has both :)

My friends tease me on this one... They tell me, "how come you wear coins on your neck?" :p (I think this one looks more like chocolate candies :D )

I'm not really a great fan of silver but I just adore the leaf motif & layering on this one.

Weaved native-looking bracelets :) It can be classic & fun at the same time :D
